Rotary drum furnaces

Rotary drum furnaces are heated by means of gas or oil, and are used for the production of non-ferrous metals and grey cast iron. With the aid of high-performance burners, temperatures of up to 1,500 °C can be reached in the melt. Despite the relatively low investment costs, this type of furnace has not become very widely used, due to the very restricted alloying possibilities.
